Knuckles Accepts A Rope Perch
Well, it took long enough! But Knuckles has finally accepted the rope roosting perch that has been inside his cage since day one at Parrot Nanny. I've learned to rejoice at each baby step! When he first arrived he had not been used to being inside a cage. He had spent most of the time on a tree stand. A cage actually allows him more exercise as he can climb all over using the bars.
Slowly he started to actually maneuver around the cage but he would avoid the "scary rope" as it was different than his usual manzanita.
Now, as you can see, he has learned that rope is fun to chew up! I wonder how long that perch will last?
I own and operate a business called parrotnanny.com. I share my expertise with other parrot caregivers and offer many services to support them. Boarding in my Lafayette home, bird sitting in their home, cooked foods, grooming, and behavioral advice. My life with the parrots is always changing and always gives me fodder for interesting stories. Hopefully they are helpful to others with parrots.
I managed Feathered Follies Exotic Bird Store in Walnut Creek CA for four years and then became Assistant Editor of Companion Parrot Quarterly Magazine in Alameda CA. I started www.parrotnanny.com to offer care and support to people who love their parrots.
