Healthy Enrichment Idea

Munchkin and Sammy nibbling on fresh grass.
Adding new and fun things to do to your bird's cage is vital.  They can get pretty bored, pretty easily.  Cockatiels, Budgies and Canaries love to nibble on grass.  They would be doing this in their natural environment.  Other birds too!  I buy the small containers of Wheat Grass in the produce section of the grocery store.  (Much cheaper than at the pet store!)  I place the container in a Smart Crock (In and Out Crock) so that they can't poop on it or tip it over.  This shallow crock also allows for the necessary watering of the grass.  Replace the grass once a week. Not all enrichments are toys or conventional foods.  Sometimes you have to think outside the box.
