Take Some ID Photos

There's a new tiel in the flock. He was found outside in San Ramon. I have posted on CraigsList and had an ad in the local paper for this "Found Cockatiel". Trouble is...when someone calls or emails (there are a lot of lost cockatiels out there!) I would like a photo or at least a good description of the bird being sought. You would be amazed how many people cannot provide
a photo or even a detailed
description!

If you don't have them already...please take a series of photos of your parrot. One from each side and then the front and even the back.

So far, this bird is not matched to anyone's lost bird.

Smartest Bird Ever

This is Mango. She is the "only child" of Sue. Mango is a wonderful companion and Sue talks to her as if she were a person. The interesting thing is....Mango talks back as if she is a person! Mango picks up words and phrases and then uses them at a later time when the same scenario plays out. There are many amazing stories. The best one thus far is how Mango heard a tea kettle that was left on the stove in another condo. She had a name for the neighbor above. "Box" because they would see her often at the mailbox. Mango wanted Sue to go see Box and when Sue investigated the urgency, the tea kettle whistle was heard and the apartment was entered in time to avert disaster. Mango knew something was wrong. Mango got Sue to listen and take action. Way to go, Mango!

Lincoln Grey

This is Lincoln, a Congo African Grey.
He is spending a few days with me while his owner is in the process of moving.

It can be very scary for any parrot to be witness to all the commotion of a move, but especially a grey parrot.

Lincoln spent much of today in one of the big outdoor cages. He was very tall at first as you can see in the photo. The tall posture is the sure sign that he was anxious. Since Lincoln was watching all my other parrots in the same area outside, he soon relaxed and even enjoyed a misting from the hose. Lincoln had a good day.

SIERRA TURNS TWO

TODAY WE HAD A PARTY! SIERRA TURNED TWO YEARS OLD TODAY. INSTEAD OF CAKE...SHE RECEIVED A WHOLE BOX OF WALNUTS FROM HER MOM AND DAD WHO ARE OVERSEAS. SHE ALWAYS ENJOYS SOME CUDDLE TIME AND SHE WAS DELIGHTED TO SEE ALL THE "CRACKERS" WHICH IS "OUR WORD" FOR NUTS. WHAT A DAY!

My Sweet Molly

This is my sweet girl, Molly. Well, Shelley may beg to differ with that description because Molly tends to act rather intimidating at times.
She is now 12 years old and this time of year makes her a tad bit hormonal.
Almost any body touching sends her into a regurgitation party. Yummm.
You may notice her blown air sack in her neck. I call her my sweet puff-a-lump. In a prior home, she hit a plate glass window and the result was a balloon like effect when she gets excited. She inflates and deflates all by herself!
Molly is a good girl, however, she'll put you to the test if you try to pick her up with any trepidation. Luckily, she is well trained to step onto a stick!

SIERRA PLAYFUL TWO YEAR OLD

Sierra turns two years old next Friday! She is with me for the duration of her mom and dad's service to our country. I am so pleased to report that she is one happy camper.

She plays and giggles and loves to get tickled. She is starting to regurgitate more when stimulated with too much closeness. Such a macaw trait!

I try to give her the kind of attention that she requires which is more instructional and less cuddly lovey but she really craves the closeness. So I give her a dose of love and then switch to being a teacher.

Three Bored Boys

Well, Katie went home....

Now the three bachelors are lost and confused. They were perky when they were trying to woo Katie. Katie could not care less and I doubt she knew what was going on about her. She's back home now and quite happy. Munchkin, Sammy, and Bubbus are left to their own devices to entertain themselves. Can't you just see their boredom!? "Katie come back, You can blame it all on me..."

A little to the left please.

Shelley is finding just the right spot on Stanley's head. He was quite accepting of a good skritch after breakfast. Stanley is turning out to be one of our favorites!

His most noticeable sound effects are the Nextel Walkie Talkie sounds. But he also has quite a large vocabulary of softly spoken endearments. Very sweet boy.
